Earl E. "Elige" Eller, age 71, of Chilhowie died Sunday, March 28th, 2004 at his home.

Born on March 2nd, 1933 in Smyth County, he was the son of the late Walter F. and Bertha Whisman Eller. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army and was employed with Brunswick Corporation for 28 years retiring in 1995.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Eller, Branson Eller, James Eller and a brother-in-law, James Poole.

Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Sarah Rich Eller of Chilhowie. One daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Michael Parks of Atkins. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Lynn and Beverly Eller of Havelock, North Carolina and William "Bill" and Martha Eller of Chilhowie. Three grandsons, Ronald Lynn Eller, Jr. of Havelock, North Carolina, Senior Airman M. Stephen Parks and wife, Senior Airman Sonja Parks, both serving in the United States Air Force stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Missouri, and Christopher Lee Parks of Atkins. One granddaughter, Cheryl Eller Paine and husband, Sgt. Austin Paine, serving in the United States Marines stationed at Rota Spain. One great-granddaughter born on February 19th, 2004, Sarah Morgan Parks. Two brothers and sisters-in-law, Neil and Mary Alice Eller of West Grove, PA and Roy and Alberta Eller of LeHigh Acres, Florida. Four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae Poole of Chilhowie, Eva and Eddie Kunkle of New Providence, PA, Ennis and John Vattilano of West Grove, PA and Rena and Willard Blevins of Ocala, Florida. Two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Branson ( Fern) Eller of Lititz, PA and Mrs. Charlie (Viola) Eller of Sugar Grove. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31st at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Rev. Mike Sage and the Rev. Lloyd Sheets officiating.
