- Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, formerly of Madison and LaCrosse, Wisc., died March 17, 1997 at Belmont Nursing and Rehavilitation Center, Madison, Wisc.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 3, 1921 at Armour, SD to Ray and Clara Eller. She married Rushton Johnson on Jan. 25, 1955. She and her jusband lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, South Dakota and Nevada for a number of years. Margaret served two years in the Womans Army Corps, stationed at London England, Paris France, Frankfurt, Germany and Berlin, Germany. A Purple Heart was awarded to her because of enemy action. She worked several years at the Army Reserves in Madison.
Preceding her in death was her first husband, Andrew Lee Johnson in 1952; her parents, seven brothers, Frank Marion, Fred, Everet, Floyd, Adrian, Merrit, and her sister Ethel Miller of LaCrosse, Wisc.
Surviving is her husband, Rushton, a foster son, LeRoy (Bakken) Johnson of Madison Wisc. and a foster daughter, Susan (Bakken) Zierlein of Omak, Wash., Three grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Bethel Eller of Reedsburg, Wisc., and Mabel Eller of Howard, SD and many cousins, nieces and nephiews.
Graveside rites and burial will be held at Mt. Plesant Cemetery in Artesian, SD.
