Marie Rexroad, 79, of Boise, moved to the next world January 27, 2002 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Services will be held Friday, February 1, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian. Rev. John Payne will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kuna Cemetery in Kuna. Arrangements are by Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian. Marie was born March 19, 1922 on the prairie near Ulms, Mont. One of ten children, she was raised in the Sun River Valley area. Her parents, Alfred & Effie, established their final farm and home in Simms in 1936. Marie had her mother?s love of sewing and preferred to help with the family sewing. Marie graduated from Simms High School in 1941. Marie and Donald Louis Rexroad were married October 24, 1948 and established their home in Boise, Idaho. Marie gave birth to daughter, Helen, Sept. 2, 1949; sons, Harry, April 14, 1951, George, May 30, 1952, James, Aug. 30, 1953, Ronald, July 2, 1956, Roger, Dec. 8, 1958, and daughter, Nancy on Dec. 26, 1959. July 4, 1960, Marie faced the awesome task of raising her family alone when Donald died. With the support of family, Marie rose to the occasion. Although she did not have a lot of money, Marie had more than enough love and creativity for her children & their friends. In the early years, Marie baby-sat and took other jobs that allowed her to stay at home. After Nancy entered school, Marie took a job at Mode O?Day where she was a sales clerk for a few years. She worked for about 20 years at House of Fabrics where her love of sewing was further enhanced. With seven children, Marie was often seen at her sewing machine working on dresses, shirts, pants and other clothing. Her children could count on Mom to sew up anything they needed or wanted. Marie was known to sew wedding dresses and take them to the wedding for the final hem. Marie was able to turn her talents to quilting and other hand stitching in later years. She was always sewing various items for the people she cared about. The last two years were filled with declining health. Her children, their spouses & her granddaughter, Shawna, who live in Boise were with her at the end. Harry, George & Ronald talked to their mom shortly before she died. Marie is survived by two daughters, Helen Louise Smith and Nancy Juanita Madden; five sons: Harry Alfred Rexroad of Kansas City, MO; George Laverne Rexroad of Shawnee Mission, KS; James A. Rexroad of Boise, ID; Ronald Louis Rexroad of Taylorsville, NC; and Roger Allen Rexroad of Boise, ID; two sons-in-law, Ronald Edward Smith and Thomas Michael Madden of Boise, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Karen Denise Rexroad of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; two brothers: Earl Eller of Boise, Idaho and Kenny Eller of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters: Minta (Eller) Powell of Great Falls, Mont. and Alma (Eller) Simons of Big Arm, Mont.; two grandsons, Donald Robert Rexroad of Newton, N.C. and Seth Dalean Rexroad of Shawnee Mission, Kan.: two granddaughters, Shawna Marie Madden of Boise, Idaho and Stephanie Sheree Rexroad of Newton, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Make a Wish Foundation, 4355 W. Emerald, Boise, Idaho 83706. A special thanks to all who had a hand in Marie's care since her stroke. Visitation will be held for friends and family Thursday, January 31, 2002 from 5-8 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel, Meridian.
