  • Notes
    • ( an "Old Maid" school teacher )

Cinthia was an "Old Maid School Teacher" she taught at the indian school in Flandreau, SD a number of years. some of the students were nearly twenty years old, as they only went to school in the months when it was too cold to help out at home. One rather large boy chalanged her one day, when asked what she did she said: "I just sat on him until he gave up"
Cinthia was my "baby sitter" when I was little. I suppose I was about four when I decided I wanted to learn to count to 100. In those days, on the plains of South Dakota, We didn't have Kindergarten or pre-school. She patiently counted for me as she went about her normal work, and I would parrot her numbers. When we got to one hundred I said, "Lets go to one thousand!" -- She declined quite emphaticly. ( Alfred D. Eller )
