  • Notes
    • William Temple is listed in Mary B. Temple's book " Notable Men of Tennessee," as the grandson of Thomas Temple of Heytesbury, Wiltshire, England. Thomas died about 1594, leaving ten children. If these dates are correct, there may be two generations between Thomas and William. William Temple's home was Coombs Lane, Parish of Atworth (Bradford-on-Avon).
His son William mentioned that he had a second wife (unnamed). This was the cause of the younger William's leaving England. Research by Gail Temple, , has not indicated that the second wife existed, or if she did, that she was legal.
