David Kearney Eller
1935-2020

Mr EllerDavid Kearney Eller, son of the late Rear Admiral Donald Temple Eller and Dorothy Wood Eller, peacefully passed on December 15th, 2020. 

Mr. Eller attended the United States Naval Academy and served in the U.S. Naval Reserves submarine division. Mr. Eller designed and built homes in Fairfax, Loudon County and the Winchester area.

He was a descendant of the Christian Eller line.

Farie Lou Sams
1945-2020

Ms. SamsFarie Lou Sams, age 75 of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Lou was born February 28, 1945 in Clayton, Ga to the late Clyde and Hazel (Bradshaw) Dover. Mrs. Sams was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Hayesville, North Carolina. She loved the beach and had a talent at painting.

She goes back to Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller through both parents and also a decendant of George Francis "Booty" Eller who married Manerva Eller.

John Wayne England
1943-2020

Mr EnglandMr. John Wayne England, age 77, of Blairsville passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday November 21, 2020, following a brief period of declining health.

Mr. England was born in Waynesville, North Carolina on August 6, 1943 to the late Jimmy and Mae England. He was raised in and a lifelong resident of Union County, Georgia. Mr. England was a loyal member of Old Liberty Baptist Church. 

John was the husband of Pauline Barrett, an Eller Descendant through Robert Barrett, James Marion Barrett who married Mary Marinda Hooper.

Reba Chastain Walls
1933-2020

Ms, WallsReba C. Walls was born on January 23rd, 1933 to the late William Joe and Nola Jane (Shook) Chastain. Reba was a lifelong resident of Towns Conty, and worked as a Nurse for Chatuge Regional Hospital. She was also a member of Union Hill Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ferman Walls; son, Gary Walls; and brothers, Vaughn Chastain, Jay Chastain, Sr., and L.V. Chastain.

Both of Reba's parents were Eller Descendants going back to Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Lois Ann Arrowood Collins
1940-2020

Ms CollinsLois Ann(Arrowood)Collins, age 79 of Hiawassee, GA formerly of Covington, GA passed away Friday, October 8, 2020 at Chatuge Regional Nursing Home.

Mrs. Collins was born in Hiawassee on December 7, 1940 to the late Earl and Lizzie (Berrong) Arrowood.  Lois is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Collins; brothers, Ernest and Everett Arrowood; sisters, Lillian Taylor, Linda Hammond, and Leta-Mae Garrett.

Lois goes back to Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller, son of Susanna "Sukey" Eller.

Irene Sawyer Eller
1931-2020

Irene Eller, 89 of Tallulah Road in Robbinsville, NC passed away, Monday, November 9, 2020 at Graham healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

     She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Coil Sawyer and Mary Turpin Sawyer Crisp. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Eller in 2004, her sons, Rev. William Michael Eller, David Gary Eller, her granddaughter, Amanda Eller Williams and 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Clarence J. "Buster" Youngblood
1953-2020

Mr. YoungbloodClarence James Youngblood, more affectionately known as Buster, and even more so as Popsy, completed a life well-lived on Monday, July 20, 2020. He was born in Hiawassee on May 22, 1953 to Reba Beck Youngblood and Oscar Lewis Youngblood who precede him in death.

He played football and baseball at Hayesville High School where he graduated in 1972. The same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Paula Cunningham, and loved her so much he married her twice.

James and his family go back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller's daughter, Malinda. Malinda married William Gillespie (1825) in Rabun County, Georgia.

Velza M. Barrett
1924-2020

Ms. BarrettMrs. Velza Mae (Kirby) Barrett, age 96, of Hiawassee passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020. Velza was born on August 23, 1924 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Gordon and Cora (Wood) Kirby. She was a member of Union Hill Methodist Church. She loved to cook and aimed to please all, often making potatoes mashed and fried just to make certain everyone had their favorite side. 

Velza was the wife of Wade Barrett. Wade goes back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through Joseph "Joe" and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Barbara Helmuth Eller
1933-2020

Barbara Eller passes away on 6 April 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida. Her husband was Odell Eller, son of Alfred Webb and Dessie Gibson Eller. Alfred and Dessie were buried at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Hiawassee, Towns County, Georgia. This family goes back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through her son Joseph.

Kenneth R. Eller
1943-2020

Mr. EllerKen Eller of 6335 Mitch Haven Drive, Bethel Park, PA formerly of Slab Fork, WV departed this life on July 29, 2020 after what he describes as a "fantastic" trip. He was 77 years old.

His trip, as he calls it, began as one of seven children of a Coal Miner and a Coal Miner's daughter in the coal community of Stotesbury, WV.

Homer Barrett
1931-2020

Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Homer Barrett (Hiawassee, Georgia), who passed away at the age of 88, on May 3, 2020. He was predeceased by : his wife Laura Arispah Wilson Barrett; his parents, Avery Levi Barrett and Ola Shook Barrett; and his brothers, Ernest and Everett Barrett.

His father was Avery Barrett; grandmother was Mary Marinda Hooper. He traces back to.Susannah Sukey Eller.

Edith Ann "Tommie" Rice Eller
1928-2020

Ms. EllerEdith Ann “Tommie” Rice Eller, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital.

Mrs. Eller was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late James Hillard Rice and Jennie Miller Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dan W. Eller who passed away in 1981. He was from the Jacob Eller line.

Mrs. Eller worked as an associate at Eckerd’s Drug Store for almost 20 years.

Janice Elaine Reynolds

Ms. ReynoldsJanice Elaine Reynolds, 67, Commerce, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020.

Janice was born on July 28, 1953 in Hiawassee. She was the daughter of the late Alfred L. Eller and Francis Virginia Stroud of Young Harris.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Karr; two children, Stacy Reynolds (Bonnie) and Angie Corbin (William); and her mother, Francis Stroud Eller.

Bridget Rene Gibson Eller

Ms. EllerRobbinsville resident, Bridget Rene Gibson Eller (63) died July 29, 2020.  Rene was born May 19, 1957 and is proceeded in death by her parents, Thomas Cleveland Gibson and Barbara Lee Epperson Gibson.

Survivors are her loving husband of 45 years, Buddy Ray Eller; son Roy Wells Eller, II, wife Tina Eller and children Ruby and Olivia; daughter Wendy Rochelle Eller Brown husband Lloyd Brown, and children Sadie and Dyllan; daughter Beth LaRae Eller and significant other Mike Holland; Brothers Thomas Cleveland Gibson, Jr. “Mokey” and Stephen Eric Gibson.

Jimmie Odessa Eller Winecoff

Jimmie Odessa Eller Winecoff, 92, of Concord and formerly of Rockwell, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020.

She was born July 27, 1927 in Rowan County to the late James L. Eller and Dera Bowers Eller. Mrs. Winecoff was a graduate of Rockwell High School and Salisbury Business College. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 1 after 34 years of employment.

Duard Garrett passed away 28 Dec 2020. He was born 8 April 1938 to Henry Alexander and Margie Garrett. Duard goes back to William K. and Mary Ann Eller Garrett. He is a descendant of Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Nedra Kay Eller

Ms EllerNedra Kay Baisden Eller, age 78 of Clarkesville, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at her residence. Born in Logan, West Virginia on April 8, 1942, Mrs. Eller was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Evelyn Larona Mays Baisden.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years Horace McKinley Eller of Clarkesville. Horace goes back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through her son Joseph "Joe" Eller. Horace's father was Theodore McKinley "Mack" Eller.

James Terrell Garrett
1930-2020

Mr. GarrettThere will be a Graveside Services for Mr. James Terrell Garrett, age 90, of Hiawassee, who passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at his home.

Mr. Garrett was a native of Hiawassee, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He had been a manager at AT & T. Mr. Garrett was a member of Lower Hightower Baptist Church. Mr. Garrett had been preceded in death by his wife, Leta Mae (Arrowood) Garrett.

He was an Eller Descendant going back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through her son, Joseph "Joe" and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Hugh Leroy Eller
1931-2020

MSG EllerHugh L. Eller was born on August 10,1931 in Tulare, California, where was raised and educated. After high school he joined the Army and he was sent to Korea. He also did two tours in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife Sun Chan, Brother Jack, Nephew Robert (Aida), Niece Anna (Scot), and Niece Donna.

He is from the George Michael Eller line thru Harvey Eller.

Irene Rogers Eller
1928-2020

Irene Rogers, wife of Harvey P. "H.P." Eller passed away 15 Nov 2020. Harvey went back to Joseph "Joe" and Mariah Hedden Eller. H.P. was born in Towns County in 1922. Irene was a local Rabun/Towns County girl born in 1928. H.P. moved to King George, Virginia with his family leaving kin folk in Northeast Georgia.

Irene was one of three siblings that married into the Eller Family. H.P.'s brother (Milas Boyd Eller) married Bertha Ree Rogers and his sister (Nellie) married Marvin Rogers.

Harold G. Bartlett
1937-2020

Mr BartlettMr. Bartlett was born April 10, 1937 in Buncombe County to the late Ernest and Lilly Fore Bartlett; he was a resident of Buncombe County all of his life. Harold was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran and owner of Bartlett Brothers Plumbing Company. His passion was giving out Bible tracts about Jesus; he would buy 20,000 at a time and gave out thousands of them.

Mr. Bartlett is from the Jacob Eller line through Rosanna Aller Fore.

Stanley Ray Eller
1953-2020

Mr. EllerStanley Ray Eller is celebrating eternity with his Savior. He is finally home. He passed into his eternal home on Thursday, October 8, 2020, from his home in Talcott, West Virginia.

He was born January 8, 1953, in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of the late Oliver D. and Virginia Ruth West Eller.

June Clapp Eller
1931-2020

Ms. Eller The life of June Clapp Eller, 89, ended Monday night, July 27, 2020, after a period of illness. A member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Lenoir, June loved the Lord and took special joy in her family and friends.

She was proud of her two sons and loved visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed time with her "Birthday Club" ladies in her later years.

June Clapp Eller was born March 12, 1931, to Jerome Albert Clapp and Mildred Suddreth Clapp Church in Lenoir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Arvil Eller. He is from the Conrad Eller line.

Guy Guindle Eller
1945-2020

Mr. EllerGuy Guindle Eller, 74, of Acworth passed away January 19, 2020 surrounded by his family and friends. Guindle was born in Hiwassee Dam, North Carolina to the late Mr. & Mrs. Guy Eller.

Mr. Eller was an avid fisherman and gardener and retired from General Motors. Known by all as Papaw or Guindle, he was best known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, his kind and compassionate spirit and how he loved his family with all his heart.

Ms. HunterLula Mae Hunter passed away June 11, 2020 in Hiawassee, GA. Mrs. Hunter was from the Jacob Eller line.

She was the daughter of Lula Mae Eller Nicholson, who was the daughter of William Riley Eller who was the son of Hardy Washington Eller.

Danny Lamar Eller

Mr EllerDanny Eller, resident of Norcross, GA, died unexpectedly on June 2, 2020 at the age of 68. Danny is survived by his son, Bailey Eller; and his cousin, Richard Waters. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Bertha Eller.

Danny was born in Dekalb County on September 9, 1951. He was the proud owner Blue Ridge Refrigeration. He is from the Sukey Eller line, thru her son William "Bill" Eller.

Mr BerrongJames "JC" Berrong passed away on Sunday, May 10th. He was a John Jacob Eller Descendant from the William "Bill" Eller line. William was a son of Susannah "Sukey" Eller.

Johnny Frank Taylor

Mr TaylorWe have learned of the passing of another John Jacob Eller descendant,Johnny Frank Taylor (1940-2020) of Hiawassee, GA. He was the son of George and Sarah Eller Taylor.

Johnny goes back to William Riley Eller and Hardy Washington Eller. He leaves a son, Scott Taylor; a sister, Montree McCarter; and grandchildren. nieces and nephews.

Ms. EllerTammie Lynn Anderson Eller, 57, of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020, at her home.Mrs. Eller was born June 17, 1963, in Wilkes County to Roy Lee Anderson Sr. and Margie Geneva Anderson. She was self-employed as a poultry farmer. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Wayne Eller who is from the George Michael Eller line.

Mary Rachel Noblet Eller

Ms. EllerMrs. Mary Rachel Eller, 72, of Hiawassee passed away on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 at her home. Mrs. Eller was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Noblet and the late Della Castner Noblet.

She had also been preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Holdaway; second husband, Kenneth Rudy Eller; and brothers and sisters: Ernest Noblet, Alvin Noblet, Betty Nicholson, Earl Noblet, and Dorothy “Dot” Moore. Mrs. Eller will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew her, for her love for people, and for the nurturing and caring person that she was.

Betty Jean Kruger

Ms KrugerBetty Jane Haymann Kruger of Fountain County, IN was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, originally of Troy Chapter #145 and most recently West Lebanon Chapter #162, and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Cayuga, IN.

Her mother was Dorothea Edna Eller (1912-1989) and she traces her line back thru Mary "Polly" Eller to the Christian Eller line.

Jack Milton Eller
1935-2020

Mr. EllerJack Milton Eller was born November 17, 1935 and departed this life Monday, July 13, 2020 reaching the age of 84 years. He was the son of the late Hughie Arthur and Gladys (Crabtree) Eller.  He married Joyce Koger and to this union one child was born.

He is survived by: his daughter, Tabby (Jim) Bewley; one sister, Janet Griffie: and two grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

George Wesley Allen, Jr.
1933-2020

Mr. AllenMr. George W. Allen entered eternal rest while surrounded by his family in his home following a sudden illness. “Red” was born on November 30, 1933, in Gainesville, GA.  He attended Hopewell Baptist church, serving as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member for decades.  He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958, stationed in Germany.

George was married to Christine Shook, an Eller descendant going back to Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Ronald William Peevy

Mr peevyRonald William Peevy, age 74, of Buford, GA passed away November 11, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, LaVonda Moss Peevy; daughter, Mary Peevy Davis; grandson, Samuel (Sam) Isaac Davis. Ronald was a 1964 graduate of Buford High School. He was employed with GIE Tool Rental for 10 years and Gainesville Industrial Electric for 38 years in sales.

He was married to Lavonda Moss who goes back to Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Carla Michelle Eller Smith

Carla Michelle Eller Smith, age 48, of Clarkesville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020. Mrs. Smith was born on August 16, 1972, in Gainesville, Georgia to Jackie Lindquist and Carless Eller.

Survivors include her husband, Stacy Smith, Clarkesville, Georgia;  father and step-mother, Carless and Debbie Eller, Cornelia, Georgia;  mother and step-father, Jackie and Frank Lindquist, Cleveland, Georgia;  daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and David Barrett, Baldwin, Georgia and Megan and Justin Walker, Clarkesville, Georgia.

Carla goes back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through Hardy Washington Eller's daughter, Martha. Martha also married an Eller, Rev. John Franklin Eller who goes back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through Joseph and Mariah Hedden Eller.

Tommy Leo McNabb
1935-2020

Mr McNabbTommy Leo McNabb, 85, of Hiawassee,Georgia passed away October 30, 2020 in Pensacola, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his wife, high school sweetheart Jimmy Lou Swanson, in 2008. 

Tommy was born in Hiawassee and grew up in Kentucky, New York and lived the majority of his life on Lower Bell Creek.  He graduated from Towns County High School in 1952, marrying Jimmye in December. 

He is from the Jacob Eller line thru Joseph (1803-1884) and Mariah Hedden's daughter, Elizabeth Ann "Betsey" Eller (1829- ).

Tony Jay Wood
1948-2020

Mr WoodTony Jay Wood, 72 of Hiawassee, Georgia went to be with his Lord October 25, 2020 at his home. He was a native of Towns County where he lived most of his life. He was the son of the late Faine and Stella Wood. He was preceded in death by a brother, Nolan Wood and mother-in-law Virginia Dockery.

He was a devoted husband, an adoring father and a doting grandfather. Tony served in the United States Army in Vietnam.

Addie Estelle Shook Sanders
1936-2020

Ms SandersMrs. Addie Estelle Sanders, age 84, of Hiawassee, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 following an extended illness. Estelle was born on July 15, 1936. She loved to quilt but she also spent her time camping and fishing, however trout fishing was her favorite.

Addie was the daughter of Fairl and Ruby Woods Shook. Fairl was a half brother to Barnett Sylvester Eller.

Elaine Ketchie Eller
1950-2020

Ms EllerOn Thursday, October 1, 2020, Elaine Ketchie Eller, passed away at the age of 70. Elaine was born on July 30, 1950 in Salisbury to John Harold Ketchie and Mildred Baity. She graduated from Rowan Technical College with her diploma in Practical Nursing and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 30 years at the W.G Bill Hefner VA Medical Center.

Buddy Joe "Bulldog" Eller
1936-2020

Mr ellerBuddy Joe "Bulldog" Eller, age 83, died on March 17, 2020. Buddy was born in Glade Spring, Virginia, on October 13, 1936, to the late Howard William "Pete" Eller and Evelyn Roberts Eller.

Buddy spent most of his life in Bristol graduating from Virginia High School. He then joined the Marine Corps and served in Okinawa. 

He is from the George Michael Eller line.

Philip Ray Berrong

Philip Ray Berrong, son of Ray Hascal and Opal Mae Nicholson Berrong was born 19 Oct 1955 and died in September 2020. He was pre-deceased by his wife Brenda Berrong.

Jack Moss

Mr MossMr. Jack Moss, age 81, of Hiawassee passed away at his home on Sunday, September 13, 2020.  Jack  was born on November 26, 1938 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest V. and Hazel (Ledford) Moss. Jack never met a stranger. 

He was a beloved husband, Dad, Grandaddy, devoted Christian, and avid outdoorsman.

Christopher Leo Eller

Christopher Leo Eller, 45, of China Grove [NC] passed away Friday, January 10, 2020. Born on January 10, 1975, Chris was the son of Tommy and Vicki Eller of China Grove.  Aside from his parents, Chris is survived by his wife, Samantha McArthur Eller of Broadway.

James "Jim" Isaac Eller
1931-2020

Mr. ellerJames "Jim" Isaac Eller, age 88, of Shady Valley, Tenn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2020, at Bristol Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Jim was born in White Oak Flats in Shady Valley on September 17, 1931, to the late Avery and Betty Neely Eller.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wonderful wife, of 35 years, Walsa McQueen Eller on September 15, 1992; son-in-law, Mike Chafin; several brothers and sisters. Jim was a United States Marine and after serving he returned home where he had several jobs before starting at Raytheon from which he retired in 1993.

1935-2020

Mr. MossJC Moss of Smyrna, Georgia, originally from Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020. He was a loving husband, dad, Papaw, brother, uncle and friend. JC enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and family, trout fishing, and playing his mandolin. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from General Motors after 34 years.

He goes back to Susannah "Sukey" Eller through Joseph "Joe" Eller.

Shirley Ann Dollar Eller
1939-2020

Ms. EllerShirley Ann Dollar Eller, age 80, of Statesville, North Carolina, formerly of Ashe County died February 13, 2020 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. She was born on March 19, 1939 to Garland Alton and Margaret Beatrice Shatley Dollar in Warrensville, NC.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jay Eller of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Tim Burgess of Statesville; two granddaughters and spouses, Drew and Wilson Yang of Toronto, Canada and Ali and Tyler Lewis of Burlington, North Carolina.

Myra Eller Jones
1959-2020

Ms. JonesMyra Dawn (Eller) Jones, 60, of Staunton VA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2020. She was born on November 25, 1959 in Richmond, VA, the daughter of the late Galen Ross and Mary Caroline Eller.

She is survived by her children; Jessica (David) Keller of Pittsburgh, PA, Joshua (Danielle) Jones of Jarrettsville, MD , Hannah Jones of Haverhill, MA, and Abigail Jones of Pittsburgh, PA, her grandchildren; Duncan, Owen, Sophia, and Ava, and many nieces and nephews.
