James Frederic Pennington, 83, of Debra Road, Falls Mills, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Beckley.
Born on December 10, 1933 in West Jefferson, NC, he was a son of the late Guy and Laura Eller Pennington. He served in the US Army from 1956-58 and was a retired truck driver for Overnite Transportation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melba Irene Leonard Pennington; a son, Joel Frederic Pennington; two sisters and one brother. He was the last surviving sibling of his family.
Survivors include:
Son: James L. Pennington and wife Bonnie of Falls Mills, VA
Daughters: Diann Bennett of Falls Mills, VA
Debbie Buckland of Falls Mills, VA
9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Curtis Honaker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Friday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
