Jimmie Kay Berrong, age 93, of Hiawassee, went to be with the Lord Saturday November 24, 2018. Mrs. Berrong was born in Hayesville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Clay Jack, parents Bynum & Maude Penland and step mother Nola Penland, brothers Walter & Donald Penland.
Mrs. Berrong is survived by her children, Stan and Jacki Berrong, of McDonough, GA, Carolyn Quattlebaum, of Grayson, GA; siblings, Johnny Penland, of Charleston, SC Mattie Mae Brock, of Snellville, GA,; grandchildren, Matthew Quattlebaum, Marshall Quattlebaum, Shane Quattlebaum, Chera Downs, Nathan Berrong; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs Berrong was a Godly lady. She was a woman of poise and grace, never desiring the spotlight. She was a selfless loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves a legacy of great faith for her family and others to follow. She was a member of McConnell Baptist Church in Hiawassee and a former member of Glen Haven Baptist in McDonough.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at McConnell Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Stan Berrong & Pastor Steven Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hills Memory Gardens in Young Harris, GA. The family will receive friends Monday, November 26, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
