- Rowan County, North Carolina, has changed considerably over the years. In the 1760's almost all of what is now north-west North Carolina was considered Rowan County.
- The red dots represent the Eller land along the Yadkin River and current day Wilkesboro.
- By 1800, Rowan County was divided into more than a half-dozen counties. Included were a much smaller Rowan County, plus what is now Wilkes and Ashe Counties.
- After 1912...through today...Rowan County became even smaller....as did Wilkes and Ashe County.
